Most research protocols require that subjects take investigational medication for a certain period of time and keep a diary of
their symptoms. Some protocols have placebos (sugar pills), while some do not. Patients are compensated for time and travel
expenses in each study. Compensation is different depending on the amount of time involved, etc., in each study.
